Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management has acquired Double & Megson, enhancing service offerings and regional reach

Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management announced an important step in its growth strategy with the acquisition of Double & Megson Solicitors, effective from 1 July 2026. This move not only marks the tenth acquisition for Chattertons in the past decade but also reinforces its standing as a prominent player among Top 200 legal and professional services firms in the UK. With the addition of Double & Megson's offices in Bourne and Market Deeping, Chattertons is set to strengthen its client coverage throughout Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

The new acquisition will see Double & Megson’s current locations remain operational, continuing to provide services under the Chattertons brand. This ensures continuity for clients, who will still be served by familiar teams while gaining access to an expanded suite of services. These offerings include everything from commercial and private legal services to independent financial advice and specialist tax planning.

Richard Ludlow, CEO of Chattertons, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition by stating that “We are delighted to welcome Richard Wood, Shanta Shah and the wider Double & Megson team to Chattertons.” He emphasised the importance of local relationships and commitment to client care, which are in alignment with Chattertons' core values. Furthermore, Ludlow noted that having offices in the areas of Bourne and Market Deeping serves as a natural extension to Chattertons existing locations, thereby further bolstering its regional presence.

Double & Megson has enjoyed a solid reputation for community-oriented legal services since its founding in 1978. The transition will be smooth, as current owners Richard Wood and Shanta Shah will join Chattertons as consultants, ensuring trusted leadership continuity. They both remarked that “Joining Chattertons allows us to build on our legacy while giving clients access to a wider range of expertise.” They believe that the resources and scale of Chattertons will create various new opportunities for their team and provide additional services to their clients.

Chattertons employs over 230 legal and financial professionals operating from ten offices, continuing to distinguish itself with a holistic client services model. This approach combines legal expertise, wealth management capabilities, and tax advisory services all under one roof. The acquisition of Double & Megson enhances this integrated service proposition, empowering Chattertons to serve both private and commercial clients more effectively across the region.

This latest development is part of Chattertons’ ongoing commitment to invest in talent, infrastructure, and regional growth, positioning the firm as a leading multidisciplinary provider across the East Midlands and beyond.
