Chattertons expands with Double & Megson acquisition

Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management has acquired Double & Megson Solicitors to strengthen regional presence
In a strategic move to enhance its regional footprint, Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management has announced the acquisition of Double & Megson Solicitors, which will take effect on 1 July 2026. This acquisition is part of Chattertons’ ambitious growth strategy, following several other successful acquisitions over recent years, including Page Nelson and JGQC in Lincoln. With this latest addition, Chattertons aims to reinforce its standing as a Top 200 legal and professional services firm.
The integration of Double & Megson will bring Chattertons’ services to Bourne and Market Deeping, expanding the firm’s presence across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands. The offices at 11 Market Place, Market Deeping, and 4 West Street, Bourne will continue to operate as usual but under the Chattertons brand. Richard Ludlow, CEO of Chattertons, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating “We are delighted to welcome Richard Wood, Shanta Shah and the wider Double & Megson team to Chattertons. Their longstanding local relationships and commitment to client care align perfectly with our values.”
Double & Megson, established in 1978, has earned a solid reputation for community-focused legal services. The current owners, Richard Wood and Shanta Shah, will transition into consultancy roles within Chattertons to ensure a smooth handover for clients and staff. The duo remarked, “Joining Chattertons allows us to build on our legacy while giving clients access to a wider range of expertise,” highlighting the advantages that this merger brings to client services.
Chattertons’ model of providing holistic client services integrates legal, wealth management, and tax advisory under one roof, a feature that distinguishes it from competitors. The acquisition of Double & Megson enhances this proposition, allowing the firm to better serve both private and commercial clients within the region.
With a workforce of over 230 legal and financial professionals across ten offices, Chattertons is keen on continuing its investment in talent and infrastructure. This acquisition is a clear indication of their commitment to regional growth and an intention to position the firm as a leading multidisciplinary provider of services across the East Midlands and beyond.
