Chartered Institute of Arbitrators announces appointment of regional director for Far East and Australasia

Previously, Camilla Godman acted as deputy registrar at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), where she was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of SIAC's caseload and legal team.

Godman's work at SIAC included close involvement in external consultations on the establishment of a Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC), legislative changes relating to Singapore arbitration, and the drafting and implementation of the fifth edition of the SIAC Rules (effective 1 April 2013).

Prior to working at SIAC, Godman was a senior associate in the Asia disputes team at Ashurst, based in Singapore since 2008.

As regional director for the Far East/Australasia, Godman will be leading and enhancing the development of CIArb in the Far East. Among other things, she will support an active branch volunteer network in the delivery of member and educational services and look to identify new opportunities for CIArb to strengthen engagement with the ADR community.

This is to be the first regional centre for CIArb outside London which will assist both members and branches. Currently, 2,945 of CIArb's members are located in Asia and Australasia.
