Anthony Collins, a social purpose law firm, has announced the promotion of Edwina Turner to partnership as part of its strategy to enhance its service excellence in the charities sector. This move is part of a broader announcement regarding a total of 12 promotions within the firm. Legal 500 has described Edwina as “excellent to work with and knows her stuff”, and her elevation to partner is expected to further solidify the firm’s governance capabilities. Notably, Edwina supports both national and international charities and focuses heavily on religious charities. Her specialisation includes restructures, mergers, and internal governance. She collaborates closely with boards and executive teams, providing expert legal advice during transitional periods and has also served as an interim manager for the Charity Commission.
In addition to her legal work, Edwina plays a pivotal role in the firm’s trainee solicitor development programme, striving to deliver a training experience that is both challenging and enjoyable for participants. Speaking about her promotion, Edwina Turner remarked, “As someone who is passionate about the charity sector and the clients I support, being promoted to the Anthony Collins partnership is a recognition of our charity work being at the heart of the firm. The firm’s social purpose ethos shines through in the work we deliver for our clients, and I am proud to be part of the high-performing charities sector team.”
Alongside Edwina, the firm has advanced several colleagues across its Birmingham and Manchester offices. For instance, Esther Campsall was promoted to legal director, specialising in education governance and charity law, while Laura Mynott also attained the role of legal director in the property team, focusing on social businesses and faith organisations.
In total, five colleagues have ascended to the senior associate level, further reinforcing the firm’s governance expertise and its ability to provide multifaceted support to diverse charity clients. Catherine Gibbons’ appointment bolsters the firm’s support across faith, housing, and health and social care sectors. Penny Bournes has strengthened the housing litigation and management team with her experience in non-contentious housing management, while Amy Barons is set to enhance the firm’s support on affordable housing matters. Meanwhile, Sarah Owen continues to advocate for individuals seeking compensation in personal injury cases, and Hazel Findlay brings her expertise in business immigration and employment law to her new role as a senior associate in the employment and pensions team.
Additionally, four individuals have been elevated to the role of associate across various teams, alongside April Hill’s promotion to executive caseworker in the private client team. These strategic advancements illustrate Anthony Collins’ strong commitment to investing in its workforce.
Matthew Wort, senior partner at Anthony Collins, expressed, “Promoting our people is a mark of our ongoing success and our commitment to delivering excellent client service now and in the future. It’s proof that the support we provide to employees – both personally and professionally – helps them to build successful careers and brings benefits for the firm and the clients and communities we serve. Importantly, we know that by investing in the leaders of tomorrow, we are creating a business model with sustainable growth built in.”
