Burgess Mee expands team with new director

Family law firm Burgess Mee has appointed Victoria Sterritt as Legal Director, enhancing their expertise in family law
Burgess Mee, a prominent family law firm, is excited to announce the appointment of Victoria Sterritt as a Legal Director in London. Joining from the well-regarded Belfast firm Davidson McDonnell, now Browne Jacobson Northern Ireland, she has an impressive background, having served as Legal Director and head of the private client team, primarily representing London-based clients. Victoria is dual qualified in both England & Wales and Northern Ireland, bringing with her a wealth of experience in family law.
Having practised exclusively in family law since her qualification, Victoria has offered advice on a broad spectrum of issues arising from relationship breakdowns. Her particular focus lies in child arrangements, especially in complex cases involving education disputes, health concerns, allegations of serious abuse, and international relocation matters. With her extensive understanding of corporate and commercial structures, she has effectively navigated challenges surrounding farms, family businesses, and trusts in divorce cases as well as protective nuptial and cohabitation agreements.
Victoria's approach to modern family law is guided by her belief that the legal framework must evolve alongside changing family dynamics. As a trained mediator, she is dedicated to advocating for out-of-court resolutions when suitable. Her client base includes a diverse range of individuals, such as City traders, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, stay-at-home parents, as well as notable figures in media and sports.
Expressing enthusiasm about Victoria's addition to the team, Peter Burgess, Senior Partner at Burgess Mee, shared, “We are so pleased that Victoria is joining our team. Her strong experience in both financial and children cases and work in modern families is a perfect fit for our boutique practice.” In turn, Victoria expressed her excitement, stating, “I am delighted to join Burgess Mee. The firm’s commitment to client care, excellence and innovation makes for a particularly exciting opportunity and I look forward to joining such a highly regarded team.”
Victoria's legal journey began at the regional firm Tees Law, followed by a partnership at Seddons in London. Her most recent role prior to Burgess Mee was at Davidson McDonnell in 2023. She is recognised in Spear’s Family Law Index, an active member of Resolution, and serves on the committee of the London Irish Lawyers Association. Her appointment comes shortly after the firm welcomed Susie Barter as a partner in May, further strengthening its already capable team.
