Browne Jacobson strengthens health team further

Browne Jacobson has appointed David Hill as a new partner, enhancing their health and life sciences practice
Browne Jacobson has significantly bolstered its health and life sciences practice with the appointment of David Hill as partner. Joining from Blake Morgan, David brings a wealth of UK and international experience in supporting healthcare organisations to adopt new medicines, technologies, and service models aimed at enhancing care and improving outcomes. His expertise spans a diverse range of clients including health service bodies across the UK, independent healthcare providers, and HealthTech companies in Europe and North America.
David Hill noted, “Browne Jacobson has an outstanding reputation for advising clients at the most complex and consequential end of health service commissioning and delivery, which is exactly where I have spent my career.” His extensive involvement in health sector legislation and national policy encompasses areas such as integrated care, access to medicines, and health technology evaluation.
Hill’s role requires a nuanced understanding of the evolving landscape of healthcare, particularly highlighting the challenges posed by digital transformation. He remarked, “The digital transformation of health services, and the adoption of new medicines and technologies, raises genuinely novel legal questions that cut across public law, regulation, privacy and governance.” His proficiency ensures Browne Jacobson is well-equipped to steer clients through these complex issues.
Having commenced his career in-house with Health and Social Care Northern Ireland, Hill later qualified as an English solicitor. Over the years, he has advised both NHS and independent sectors, local authorities, and regulatory bodies, developing deep connections with health leaders and playing a significant role in policy development for the NHS. His experience includes key secondments to NHS England, where he has tackled challenges related to health devolution and the advancement of Integrated Care Systems.
Gerard Hanratty, Partner and Head of Health and Life Sciences at Browne Jacobson, expressed confidence in Hill's capabilities, stating, “David is an exceptional addition to our team and brings a rare combination of policy insight, regulatory expertise, and deep practical experience of the NHS.” He emphasised that Hill's comprehensive background in legislation and AI-enabled health technologies is invaluable as the firm engages with clients facing pressing societal challenges amid digital transformation.
Browne Jacobson’s health and life sciences practice works with over 300 sector clients, which include a significant portion of NHS trusts and foundation trusts, integrated care boards, and various government bodies, ensuring that their diverse needs are met with expert legal advice.
