Browne Jacobson announces new senior partner

Browne Jacobson has appointed Jonathan Tardif as Senior Partner from April 2026, succeeding Caroline Green
Browne Jacobson, a prominent law firm in the UK and Ireland, has officially announced the appointment of Jonathan Tardif as its next Senior Partner, effective from 1 April 2026. Elected by the firm's equity partners, Tardif will take over from Caroline Green, who is stepping down after a notable seven-year tenure.
Having joined Browne Jacobson 13 years ago, Jonathan Tardif brings a wealth of experience in commercial dispute resolution, with over 25 years in the industry. His leadership credentials are particularly underscored by his role as head of the firm’s business and professional risk (BPR) department, during which he managed to double the department's revenue to an impressive £35 million while ensuring strong profitability. Additionally, Jonathan is currently a member of the firm's Executive Committee, which plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the strategic vision of the firm.
Jonathan's appointment comes at a significant time for Browne Jacobson, which recently celebrated a record-breaking turnover of £137 million for FY 24/25, marking a 16% increase from the previous year. This growth is attributed to the firm’s innovative approach and commitment to addressing societal issues. As a first-generation university graduate from a comprehensive background, Jonathan’s personal journey resonates with Browne Jacobson's ethos of social mobility, earning the firm top marks in the Social Mobility Foundation's employer index.
Speaking on his election, Richard Medd, Managing Partner, remarked, "Jonathan's election demonstrates the confidence our equity partners have in his leadership and strategic vision." His confidence in Tardif is matched by Tardif's respect for outgoing partner Caroline Green, who he credits with the transformative changes made during her leadership, particularly in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Tardif expresses his gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him, stating, "I see this role as a great privilege and responsibility – an opportunity to serve our colleagues, clients and the firm's strategic interests."
Caroline Green echoed these sentiments, indicating her pride in the firm’s achievements over the past seven years. "I'm very pleased to be handing over to Jonathan... His commercial acumen, collaborative approach and genuine commitment to our values will serve the firm exceptionally well," she said. Green will continue to play a key role in the firm’s Retail and supply chain sector group while also leading the firm’s DEI initiatives.
As the firm prepares for the transition, Jonathan's focus will be on ensuring that Browne Jacobson continues to meet the complex challenges faced by its clients, enhancing the firm's reputation as a leading legal innovator. “Working closely with Richard Medd and our leadership team, my priority is to ensure we remain at the forefront of society's biggest issues – a strategic pillar that defines who we are and the value we bring,” he stated.
