Appointed Head of UK White Collar Practice

In a significant move to bolster its London operations, international law firm Brown Rudnick has appointed Paul Feldberg as a partner and Head of the U.K. White Collar Defense, Investigations, and Compliance practice. The announcement, made on January 22, 2023, reflects the firm's commitment to expanding its footprint in London, evidenced by the recent addition of several new partners.

Paul Feldberg brings a wealth of experience to his new role, specializing in advising corporates on multijurisdictional compliance issues related to money laundering, sanctions, bribery, and fraud. His impressive background includes serving as a partner in the Investigations, Compliance, and Defense practice at Jenner & Block, where he also co-chaired the National Security Sanctions and Export Control group and the Bribery/FCPA group.

Feldberg's career began as a barrister, where he gained hands-on experience defending and prosecuting economic crime in court. Subsequently, he served as a prosecutor for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs Office and held a senior prosecutor position at the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in the U.K. Feldberg has been involved in some of the most high-profile SFO cases, providing him with extensive experience as both a prosecutor and defense counsel.

Stephen Best, partner and chair of Brown Rudnick’s White Collar Defense, Investigations, and Compliance practice, expressed enthusiasm about Feldberg's addition to the team. Best highlighted Feldberg's valuable experience in both the public sector and private practice. Given the recent amendments to the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act in the U.K., Best emphasized the significance of Feldberg's knowledge in helping multinational clients navigate compliance challenges.

In response to his appointment, Paul Feldberg conveyed his excitement about joining Brown Rudnick's esteemed White Collar Defense, Investigations, and Compliance practice. He emphasized the collaboration opportunities with colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic, leveraging the firm's strengths from M&A to brand and reputation management. Feldberg looks forward to delivering results for clients and further expanding his practice.

Feldberg's achievements are well-recognized, with rankings by Chambers in its Corporate Financial Crime guide, recommendations by Who’s Who Legal for Trade and Customs – International Sanctions, Corporate Business Crime Defense and Investigations, and inclusion in the Legal 500 rankings for White-Collar Crime Advice to Individuals in the Fraud category and Advice to Corporates in Regulatory Investigations and Corporate Crime. He is also the editor and creator of the Global Investigations Review Sanctions Guide.

Brown Rudnick's strategic move to bring Feldberg on board aligns with its ongoing efforts to strengthen its London presence. Over the past year, the firm has made key strategic hires, focusing on areas where it holds market leadership, such as crisis management, global litigation, technology, life sciences, and brand and reputation management. The addition of Paul Feldberg underscores Brown Rudnick's commitment to excellence and growth in strategic practice areas.
