Broadfield boosts London team with new partners

Broadfield enhances its private wealth and IP services by appointing Sarah Sarwar and Ash von Schwan
Broadfield has announced the appointments of Sarah Sarwar and Ash von Schwan as partners in its London office, a move aimed at bolstering the firm’s expertise in complex private wealth matters and high-value intellectual property and technology transactions. Sarwar joins from Morr & Co where she specialised in advising high-net-worth individuals, internationally mobile families, trustees, and family offices on essential areas such as international estate planning, succession structuring, and wealth preservation. Known for her ability to combine technical depth with pragmatic solutions, she provides advisory services that navigate cross-border inheritance and complex probate issues while ensuring fluid coordination among advisors in varying jurisdictions.
Ash von Schwan, previously with Baker McKenzie, adds significant expertise to Broadfield’s Commercial team, focusing on intellectual property and technology transactions. His extensive experience encompasses a broad range of non-contentious IP and commercial matters, including technology and brand licensing, protection of vital know-how, and strategic academic collaborations. His deep understanding of IP in diverse sectors, including healthcare and technology, equips him well to advise clients facing intricate acquisitions, restructurings, and R&D initiatives.
“Clients want senior, commercially minded counsel that can move quickly across the issues that matter most: protecting value, executing transactions, and managing risk,” remarked John Hutchinson, Managing Partner of Broadfield’s UK offices. He further emphasised that the addition of Sarwar and von Schwan enhances the firm’s London platform, reflecting its commitment to partner-led, coordinated service designed for immediate business needs.
“I think Broadfield is building something genuinely modern: a platform that takes delivery seriously,” noted Ash von Schwan. He articulated how contemporary IP and technology issues are pivotal to strategic business transactions and growth plans, highlighting the firm’s investment in modern processes that prioritise efficiency and value protection.
In alignment with this approach, Sarah Sarwar stated, “Broadfield’s focus on coordinated advice and disciplined execution strongly aligns with how my clients operate across borders.” She expressed excitement about joining a team dedicated to clear, practical, and long-term stewardship for families and trustees handling complex international assets.
Broadfield’s ongoing commitment to investing in modern infrastructure illustrates its ambition to foster collaboration across offices. The firm partners with SHP Legal Services, a subsidiary of LSS Strategic Partners, which aids in both operational and technology enhancements, offering broader professional services when multidisciplinary input is needed. Remaining an independent, partner-owned law firm, Broadfield continually adapts to meet the demands of a changing legal landscape.
