'Bill of Restrictions'

The government has introduced its Bill of Rights to parliament. Sophie Kemp, partner and head of public law at Kingsley Napley, commented: "Calling Dominic Raab's proposals a 'Bill of Rights' is another Orwellian turn from this Government. It is, in fact, a worrying 'Bill of Restrictions'.” She said the bill “introduces a number of restrictions, including restricting the circumstances in which the right to a family life can be relied on… [and] removing obligations on public authorities to actively protect someone’s human rights and limit the circumstances in which current obligations apply”.
