A barrister who practised for seven months without a practising certificate or authorisation has been suspended for four months. Peter Masniuk, who was called to the bar in 1983, also exercised a right of audience in the family courts on private children matters without being entitled to. A disciplinary tribunal found he had failed to take reasonable steps to manage his practice competently and in such a way as to comply with his legal and regulatory obligations. These were a serious breach of the BSB Handbook.
