In Wales, judges can ban criminals from drinking alcohol for up to 120 days if they have committed 'alcoholfuelled' crimes, and order them to wear sobriety tags which will monitor compliance by alerting the probation service if alcohol is consumed. Offenders who fail to comply face further fines or can be returned to court for further sentencing. The scheme will be extended to England early 2021.
