Hina Belitz

Hina Belitz

Partner in Employment, Excello Law

Hina is a senior employment lawyer, author and trainer with over 25 years’ experience. She has headed up City of London employment teams and has been a senior member of a number of City firms including DLA Piper, Dentons and Pinsent Masons. She managed her own City firm for over a decade, joining Excello Law in 2017. Hina acts for a wide range of clients, supporting strategy and board-level decision making, and advising on director-level exits, corporate restructuring, redundancies and TUPE, disciplinaries and grievances, documentation reviews, as well as High Court injunctive litigation and tribunal claims. Clients include financial institutions, IT, service and property organisations, charities and educational establishments, as well international royalty and UK-based embassies. She has personally conducted the advocacy in over 80 claims at Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and the High Court, more recently partnering with barristers to assist with representation. Hina has a particular interest in advising on unlawful discrimination and working to eradicate it. She believes in championing women’s rights and focuses on sexual harassment discrimination and unconscious bias, which are particular interests of hers. As such, last year she was invited to work with the British Medical Journal (BMJ) on an initiative which led to the uncovering of widespread sexual misconduct in the NHS, reported on by major news outlets including The Guardian. This led her to being featured in the BMJ and taking part in a major webinar held by the BMJ to discuss and debate the issue. As a passionate defender of women’s rights, Hina also continues to deliver training sessions across the City of London on sexual harassment, training staff all the way to board level. She most recently delivered over 30 sessions to the London offices of a major flexible office space provider. Hina lectures at the University of London, and trains companies in-house as well as at an established and highly rated quarterly City-based employment law club which she started in 2007. Through it she regularly trains up to 100 businesses at each event. Hina also mentors law students at institutions such as the University of Law and Albemarle College. She is regularly invited to deliver inspirational talks to staff and students at such institutions, most recently having spoken to students at Anglia Ruskin and staff at Albemarle College, for whom she is also a governor. She is a published author and media commentator on employment law, co-authoring the ‘Penguin Guide to Employment Rights’.
