United Nations presses EC on UK exclusion from Lugano Convention

International human rights lawyers have welcomed a move by the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights (UN) to ask the European Commission (EC) to justify its position on excluding the United Kingdom (UK) from the cross-border legal cooperation international treaty, the “Lugano Convention”.

Court of Appeal rules Rwanda policy unlawful

The Court of Appeal of England and Wales ruled on 29 June that the UK Home Secretary's Rwanda removals process is unlawful on grounds of safety and that sending anyone to Rwanda would breach Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Supreme Court dismissed the appellant's argument that a party to a marriage can pursue a claim for financial relief during or post divorce under the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984 Act and the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, even after the death of the other party.
