The Unified Patent Court has confirmed 85 of its judges from across the EU have now accepted positions on the court. IP law firm Mathys & Squire said after years of delay, the UPC is “fast approaching” and patent holders worldwide should not ignore it. The firm said the nationalities of the judges reflect where the ‘hotspots’ of EU patent litigation are. Of the 85 judges appointed, the countries with the greatest representation are Germany (27); France (17); Italy (11); Netherlands (seven); Belgium (five); Denmark, Finland and Sweden (four each).
