UK announces new sanctions targeting Belarus exports
The new law probits the import of gold to the UK from Belarus
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office announced new sanctions legislation on 8 June targeting exports from Belarus that are believed to be funding the Lukashenko regime, which the UK government states continues to facilitate Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The new law prohibits the import of gold, cement, wood and rubber to the UK from Belarus. The government is also being given the ability to prevent designated Belarusian media organisations from disseminating propaganda in the UK.
