The Law Society's Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) expressed concern about the SRA's initial suggestion to delay Legal Practice Course (LPC) exams until autumn 2020. In a letter to the SRA, the JLD said this was 'unworkable' and called for an alternative solution to be found now, given the implications for junior lawyers, students, apprentices and trainees. It asked for urgent clarity and called on the SRA to rethink its position. The JLD suggested alternatives, such as the use of verified and tested online software for exams; submission of LPC coursework; video assessment for 'live' practical exams such as advocacy and client interviewing; and whether a student's current grade could safely be used as their predicted grade to fairly represent what they could 'reasonably be expected to be awarded in usual circumstances'. 23 March
