Plans to broadcast the sentencing remarks of senior judges in criminal cases, and judgments and advocates' arguments in selected family proceeding, have received cross-party support in the House of Lords. Debating the Crown Court (Recording and Broadcasting) Order 2020, Tory peer Lord Bourne expressed concern 'about the potential for celebrity judges'. The aim of the orders is to create greater transparency and openness in the criminal justice system in the UK but it was questioned whether they go far enough to provide real transparency. 8 June 2020
