SUICIDAL CLIENTS

The Bar Council is looking into training for barristers who are faced with suicidal clients after family law practitioner Amanda Bewley from London's Coram Chambers encountered two clients who threatened to take their own life during a consultation. Bewley told Legal Futures: 'Barristers at the criminal Bar'¦ have frequent contact with those with complex mental health profiles; the disenfranchised'¦ those facing loss of their liberty and most of whom are likely to have experienced huge personal hardship.' 27 January
