Small claims disparity 'can't be justified'

PI lawyers criticises the unfairness of the small claims disparity

The small claims limit for non-RTA personal injury claims has been set by the Ministry of Justice at £1,500 instead of the expected £2,000, in a move welcomed by the profession. The changes take effect from 31 May 2021.

Qamar Anwar, managing director of First4Lawyers, called the move “a significant, if belated, sign of progress” but “makes the unfairness of the new £5,000 limit for road traffic injuries even starker”. He said the disparity cannot be justified.
