Swindon-based solicitor Rob Ross has taken umbrage at the decision to extend the weekend operating hours of the town's magistrates court to clear a backlog of cases. Ross told the Swindon Advertiser 'we're being offered absolutely nothing and put ourselves out.' In response, a spokesperson for Justice Secretary Robert Buckland told the paper: 'Solicitors will get paid for the work they do', adding: 'There seems little point in speaking with Mr Ross as you can find out whatever's on his mind by opening a local newspaper.' 27 July 2020
