Head of the law school at Birmingham University Professor Lisa Webley has warned that Lawtech products may need to be directly regulated as they become more complex. Speaking during a Legal Service Board podcast, Webley said more thought needed to be given to the disconnect between a regime that regulates individuals and entities while 'everyone else [is] operating in a world where risk is shoved towards the client, as opposed to being held by the company that developed the technology or the non-authorised professional'. 1 June 2020
