New office opens in Birmingham

Martin Searle Solicitors are set to open their latest office in Birmingham in May 2026 as they expand their employment law team with the addition of Daniel Godfrey, a seasoned professional who has shifted from a leading trade union law firm
Godfrey brings a wealth of experience, particularly in disability discrimination claims related to neurodiversity and unfair dismissal cases. His previous roles in national trade unions and various trade associations equip him with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in Employment Tribunal cases.
As Martin Searle Solicitors establish an Employee Ownership Trust to allow their employees to become shareholders, they continue their commitment to fighting discrimination. “We are delighted to welcome Daniel to our Employment Law team,” gives voice to Fiona Martin, Director and Head of Employment Law, as she highlights the alignment of their values and mission. She notes the firm’s focus on “providing plain-speaking advice at a fair price” and their strategy of settling cases early to circumvent the costs associated with lengthy tribunal hearings.
Godfrey expressed his enthusiasm about joining the firm, stating, “What drew me to the firm above all else is its identity as a campaigning practice — one that sees employment law not just as a technical discipline but as a vehicle for real change.” His philosophy, rooted in years of collaboration with trade unions, aligns seamlessly with Martin Searle Solicitors' ethos.
Founded in 2004, Martin Searle Solicitors has made a name for itself in Employment and Community Care law, starting with its Mind the Bump campaign aimed at eradicating pregnancy and maternity discrimination. Their ongoing efforts include annual campaigns like #MeToo Matters and Disability Matters, reinforcing their commitment to raising awareness of discrimination and support needs within the workplace and community.
With a history of accolades, such as being shortlisted for Best Initiative of the Year at the Legal 500 ESG Awards, Martin Searle Solicitors is dedicated to both excellence in legal practice and advocacy for the vulnerable. With branches across key locations in the UK, including Brighton, Croydon, and now Birmingham, they continue to grow their reach and influence in employment and community care law.
