New panel of experts to support victims of major disasters

The Ministry of Justice launched on 1 March the Independent Public Advocate, a new panel of experts, which will support survivors and the bereaved families of major disasters. The expert panel will provide support to victims and their families during all related inquiries and inquests, ensuring that their voices are better heard. The Independent Advocate will also be tasked with producing a report when all the investigations have been completed, which will include recommendations to the government on suggested improvements based on the experiences of survivors and bereaved families.
