A second super courtroom has opened in Loughborough

The Law Society has welcomed news that a second super courtroom has opened in Loughborough. President I. Stephanie Boyce said some trials are being delayed until 2023, leaving victims “waiting years” for justice, while innocent defendants are “in limbo” waiting to clear their names. She asserted the criminal courts have been understaffed since before the pandemic. Boyce said investment announced in the recent Budget “was a step in the right direction” and that she hoped the government response to the Independent Review of Criminal Legal Aid would result in further funding.
