EVICTIONS STAY

The stay on evictions has been extended by a month to 20 September 2020 to allow further work to be done to prepare the courts for when the stay is lifted. Law Society president Simon Davis said that though this extension provides a brief reprieve for tenants, more needs to be done to provide access to justice. This includes 'resolving the legal aid deserts currently preventing tenants in some areas from receiving legal advice and making wider legislative changes to prevent a spike in homelessness'. 21 August 2020
