Eviction ban

Eviction ban

The ban on the enforcement of evictions has been extended to 31 May 2021. However, the Law Society warned that as tapering off measures start on 1 June, legal aid must be made available to “as many tenants as possible”. President David Greene warned that “those with significant rent arrears are exempt from the ban, and, as time goes on, it’s likely that more tenants will be evicted as a result of increasing amounts of overdue rent.” He said eventually, fewer tenants will be protected and may become homeless.
