EVICTION BAN

The government has banned new possession proceedings against social or private renters for three months and a package of measures to protect renters and landlords affected by Covid-19. Under emergency legislation for England and Wales, those with buy-to-let mortgages can take a three-month mortgage payment holiday if tenants experience financial difficulties. The pre-action protocol on possession proceedings will be widened to include private renters and strengthen its remit. Guidance will be issued. 18 March
