Early retirement

The pandemic appears to have led to a change in attitude
According to South East-based Pharon Independent Financial Advisers, there has been a significant shift towards taking or planning early retirement. A recent Aviva survey revealed a quarter of people planned to retire at 60 – six years before state pension age – and one in five planned to retire at 55. Pharon IFA director Nick O’Shea said: “The pandemic has sparked a ‘carpe diem’ mentality leading many people to consider early retirement, granting them the freedom to enjoy travel, leisure and time with loved ones while they are fit and healthy”.
