The extension of the official trial of e-scooters on UK roads to March 2022 has been criticised by Trevor Sterling, head of major trauma at Moore Barlow. He said the increasing number of privately-owned electric scooters on the roads are becoming increasingly impossible to police. “With no mandatory requirements for riders to wear helmets, use headlights or reflective clothing, there is a significant increase in the likelihood of serious injury occurring”. He called for proper scrutiny of regulation and for “laws that keep us all safe”.
