DUPLICATED TAXI FARES CLAIMED
By Nicola Laver
A solicitor was fined £2,500 with no order as to costs after making five duplicated claims for reimbursement of taxi fares, charging the same amount in some cases to different clients. Abel Manukyan, an assistant solicitor at Fladgates at the time, made the claims between July 2016 and May 2017. It was submitted on his behalf that he did not deliberately make the duplicated claims but the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal held he made a material but inadvertent error no solicitor of his experience should have made. 1 July 2019
