COVID DENIAL

Annual research on law firms conducted by accountants Smith & Williamson suggests that law firms could be 'in denial' about the effects of covid-19 on their businesses. The firm's head of professional practices Giles Murphy said it is unclear why firms are so confident, but that it may be 'that many senior executives successfully navigated the 2008 crisis, and so feel better prepared'. The survey found 80% of the 198 respondent firms felt either reasonably or very confident about the outlook for their firm, compared with 58% after the 2008 financial crash. 24 September 2020
