COMPENSATION FUND

The maximum single grant from the SRA's compensation fund will be reduced from £2m to £500,000 following public consultation. Any financial or hardship tests for eligible applicants will be removed and grants will not be limited to clients or beneficiaries of the legal services provided. The SRA also announced that large charities and trusts will be excluded; nor will the fund pay for costs associated with making an application or most litigation costs; or unpaid barristers' and other professional experts' fees. 28 July 2020
