…and anonymous French lawyer has been suspended after appearing in court wearing nothing under his legal robes.

It has been reported in France that the lawyer admitted to appearing before the courts in a state of semi-undress, sans his pantaloons, for about two years.

The as-of-yet unnamed advocate's peccadillo for appearing in the buff was only discovered after an unexpected blast from an air conditioner unit made his robes billow on a particularly balmy July day earlier this year.

French judges were treated to a brief view of the lawyer's unmentionables before he had the sense to duck and run for cover out of the courtroom. Appearing before le Tribunal Correctionnel the advocate explained how he was often naked at home and just throwing on his robes was quicker than getting dressed properly first.

The tribunal found that his behaviour fell below the standards expected of the legal profession. The lawyer was suspended for three months but intends to appeal.

If the story is true, one can only hope that he turns up dressed for the occasion.
