New regulations allow for the opening up of India to foreign lawyers

The Bar Council of India has published new regulations that enable the establishment of foreign lawyers and law firms in the country. The Law Society of England and Wales, which has campaigned for the opening up of India’s legal services sector to foreign law firms, states that it looks forward to engaging further on the implementation of the new regulations, based on reciprocity of access, and on further initiatives to foster collaboration, cooperation and joint practice between Indian lawyers and solicitors.
