SRA wants to investigate how to close the gap in qualification outcomes for different ethnic groups

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has asked the University of Exeter to look at what causes different levels of attainment for ethnic groups in professional assessments. The SRA’s annual education and training monitoring report shows a persistent difference in qualification outcomes by ethnicity, known as an ‘attainment gap’. The research will identify what factors contribute to the gap and steps that could be taken to close the gap. SRA chief executive, Paul Philip, said the profession must “reflect the diverse society… it serves so we want to know why and what the barriers are”.
