AGRD Partners expands with Icelandic firm

AGRD Partners has announced the acquisition of Icelandic law firm BBA//Fjeldco, marking a significant expansion move into the Nordic region
AGRD Partners, a private equity-powered consortium of European law firms, has taken a significant stride in its Nordic expansion by welcoming BBA//Fjeldco as its newest member. This marks AGRD Partners’ first investment outside Sweden, highlighting the group’s commitment to broadening its international footprint. BBA//Fjeldco is renowned for its excellence in M&A, capital markets, banking, and corporate finance, energy, and public financial infrastructure projects, establishing its credibility as a leading full-service law firm in Iceland.
Ranked by Chambers as a ‘Leading firm in Europe 2026’, BBA//Fjeldco not only operates across Iceland but also has an office in the UK, providing it with robust international experience that aligns well with AGRD Partners’ ambitious growth strategy. Maria-Pia Hope, Group CEO of AGRD Partners, expressed her enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating “BBA//Fjeldco is a highly regarded, well-run and entrepreneurial firm with a strong position in the top segment of the Icelandic market. The firm is a good cultural fit for AGRD Partners, sharing our ambitious approach to collaboration and innovation, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the group.”
This acquisition represents an important milestone for AGRD Partners, which formed in 2025 and previously expanded by incorporating Wigge and Bokwall Rislund in January 2026. The addition of BBA//Fjeldco signals the onset of a broader strategy to enhance the group's presence within the Nordic legal landscape. Hope added, “Iceland is an important market within the Nordic region, with a healthy economic outlook and growing legal sector, making this a strategic investment for AGRD Partners."
Halldór Karl Halldórsson, Managing Partner at BBA//Fjeldco, shared his insights into the move, emphasizing the firm’s desire for growth and adaptation. He remarked, “BBA//Fjeldco has always focused on building a high-quality, internationally oriented practice. Joining AGRD Partners allows us to take that further, giving us access to critical resources—especially leading-edge technology and AI—while allowing us to maintain our identity.”
Through the integration into AGRD, BBA//Fjeldco will retain its brand identity yet will benefit from shared initiatives, particularly in technology and artificial intelligence investments. Such collaboration aims to enhance service delivery and keep the firm at the forefront of legal innovations.
The completion of this transaction is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, as AGRD Partners actively seeks further expansion opportunities within the Nordic region. Since its establishment in Sweden in 2025 and supported by Nordic PE firm Axcel, AGRD Partners has been focused on rethinking the legal industry by combining market-leading expertise with innovative strategies and technology-based resources.
