AGE DISCRIMINATION
By Nicola Laver
A solicitor who won nearly £12,000 for age discrimination against a firm who did not hire him post-interview, lost his application for an additional £3,000 to reflect potential stigma in the marketplace and increased aggravated damages. The employment tribunal (ET) also refused the firm's application to reduce the sum on grounds the tribunal misinterpreted the facts. The ET ruled that parties' arguments were a repetition of points made during proceedings and it was not in the interests of justice to reconsider those matters. 14 August 2020
