Judge pleads guilty to drink driving

30 September 2009

Bruce Macmillan, who resigned last week as a judge at Liverpool Crown Court, has pleaded guilty to drink driving at Chorley Magistrates’ Court.

It is reported that half a bottle of vodka and an empty can of energy drink were found by police on the floor of his car following his arrest on the M6.

The court heard that the former judge denied having drunk alcohol, but a breath test revealed that he was almost three times over the limit.

Macmillan was arrested earlier this month after police spotted his car driving erratically near Chorley.

Following a previous drink driving offence in August, he was requested by the presiding judge at Liverpool Crown Court not to sit.
