Partner leaves Withers to join the London firm's private client group

Ziva Robertson has quit Withers to join McDermott Will & Emery as a partner in its London-based international private client practice group.

Robertson is qualified in England and Wales, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. She assists with structuring family businesses through trusts, foundations and holding companies across the US, Latin America, the Caribbean, Switzerland, the Channel Islands, the Middle East and the UK.

Martyn Gowar, head of the London international private client team, said: "From the outset, our strategic vision was to be a full service team with critical mass in London building from the extraordinary depth and strength of our teams in the US.

"Ziva's arrival marks the fitting of a further piece of the jigsaw, bringing in that contentious expertise but also with her non-contentious work and expertise particularly in the BVI and the Cayman Islands."

Gowar set up McDermott Will & Emery's London office in 2009. The firm also has numerous bases in Europe and the US, and recently opened an office in Seoul.

Robertson's departure from Withers follows that of private client partner Astrid Owen, who also left the firm for McDermott Will & Emery. Owen joined in October 2012.
