Hogan Lovells is replacing co-chairs Claudette Christian and John Young with litigator Nicholas Cheffings, who has “a long track record of managing significant partnership and client issues with tact and diplomacy”, according to the outgoing chairs.

From 1 May 2012, Cheffings is expected to oversee Hogan Lovells’ ethos and standards, nurture its culture around the world, exemplify the commitment and behaviours expected of partners in serving both clients and the firm, and provide advice to partners as required.

Cheffings joined the-then Lovells in 1999. His previous management positions include being a member of the UK firm’s partnership council and conflicts panel. The London-based real estate disputes partner is currently a board member, chair of the partner admission committee and member of the audit committee.

He will continue as a member of the firm’s board, which has supervisory responsibility for overseeing the affairs of the firm, but no executive responsibility for strategy, management or operating decisions.

Says Cheffings: “I am looking forward to transitioning into this new role over the next few months while continuing with my practice”.
