Top-100 UK law firm Speechly Bircham has continued its international growth with the opening of an office in Paris.

The move follows the firm’s September announcement of a new Geneva office, its first move abroad since setting up shop in Zurich and Luxembourg in 2011.

“Building on the success of our first international offices, Paris feels like a natural next step due to its importance as a European commercial centre,” said Speechlys’ senior partner, Michael Lingens, who is responsible for developing the firm’s international operations.

The private client firm had previously pursued a merger with Withers as part of its international growth strategy, but talks were called off in May.

Speechlys' Paris office opens with a team of four partners and seven associates focused on tax planning for private clients, as well as corporate and litigation services.

The partner team comprises Stéphane de Lassus, Anne-Marie Berthault-Boissonnas and Frédéric Jeannin, all formerly of STC Partners, and Thibaut Caharel, previously at PDGB Avocats.
