Lawyer and Law Lecturer, Bangor University and Holborn Chambers

I am a Law Lecturer (of 5 years’ experience) and published academic, in the final stages of training as a Barrister in my spare time (PT,Call July 2021). I am an Academic Door Tenant in Crime with a barristers’ chambers (Holborn Chambers in London). I have an extensive and heavily cited legal academic publication record. I am a member of The Honourable Society of Middle Temple (Inn of Court), and my application for Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) is ongoing. I am also an Examiner for Frontline (Law) with Lancaster University. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), on the Fast-Track Fellow route (only awarded to those whose work has made a positive impact on society). I hold an LLB (Hons) Law degree, and an LLM (Res) - Distinction (71%) - LLM by Research in Criminal Law, in Judicial Review and Appeals in the Magistrates' Courts. My Ph.D. by Published Works, in Criminal Litigation, Procedure, and Evidence, is due for the viva in 2021 (almost all articles published). I am a Peer Review Panel Member of the International Journal of Emergency Services (IJES) - and Academic Reviewer for OUP (with my review of Choo on Evidence on its cover). I sat on UCEM’s (University of Estate Management) institutional Academic Board (HE Governance), and won the UCEM 2019-2020 Lecturer Values Award. I have significant experience of University work, including as a Criminal Caseworker with Bangor University Innocence Casework Unit (ICU), and as University Court Visit Supervisor & Practical Lecturer, taking students to court. I have experience of lecturing, marking, and course design (both online and in-person) – and have worked for a wide range of HEIs and assessment bodies (both in person and online), including: University College of Estate Management, MOL, the CLC (SQA), and OCR. From 2016-2020 I was UCEM’s Law Tutor and Dissertation Supervisor and Examiner and Marker on Undergraduate (QCF Levels 4, 5 and 6) and Postgraduate (QCF L7) Modules. My work won a national contract to become Author/Developer on SQA Course Handbooks Review. My Law Lecturing Qualifications include: Module Leading; Module Tutoring; Module Marking; Project Supervision; Safeguarding Children & Young People; “Prevent” Training (Lecturers’ Certificate); Data Protection (post-GDPR & DPA 2018-2020); and the Official Action Counters Terrorism Certificate.
