Latham & Watkins has hired a team of four Shearman & Sterling partners for its new office in Germany.

Harald Selzner, Rainer Wilke and Martin Neuhaus will spearhead Latham’s new Düsseldorf office, while Markus Rieder will be based in its Munich office.

Thomas Fox, managing partner of the Munich office, will also serve as managing partner of the firm’s Düsseldorf office.

The new team, who have expertise in complex M&A and high-stakes litigation, will join Latham & Watkins’ corporate and disputes practices in Germany.

Their recruitment follows several significant lateral partner hires in London, continental Europe and the US to grow the firm’s corporate and litigation capability.

“We are focused on growing our business with blue chip industrials and other multinational companies, and this team fits our strategy perfectly,“ said the firm’s chair and managing partner Robert M. Dell.

He added that the Düsseldorf office will be “a key gateway for the strategic growth of our corporate capability”.

The Düsseldorf office will be the international law firm’s fourth in Germany. It also has offices in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich.
