Top-50 UK law firm Charles Russell has expanded its presence in the Middle East with the opening of an office in Doha, Qatar.

The move, which is in response to growth in legal work the region, follows the firm’s relocation to larger office premises in Bahrain last month.

The new office comes as a result of feedback from existing clients and contacts in Qatar for an "on the ground" Charles Russell presence, the firm says.

“The focus for the office will be real estate development and construction work as well as our other areas of expertise such as corporate, communications and technology, litigation and dispute resolution, sports and one of our key differentiators from our competitors, private client services," said Simon Green, partner and head of Middle East real estate and construction at Charles Russell, who will become head of the Qatar office.

Added Patrick Gearon, head of the firm’s Bahrain office: ‘With the firm’s continuing expansion in the region, Qatar was the obvious choice for us. We maintain a long term commitment to the Middle East region built on our traditional values."

The new offices will be marked with an official opening in early September 2013.
