Magistrates' details sent to prison by mistake

22 January 2010

A year book containing the names, telephone numbers and email addresses of magistrates in Norfolk has been sent by mistake to a prison in Kent.

A Courts Service spokeswoman apologised for the error involving the print workshop at the prison in Sheerness.

“HMP Standford Hill is a Category D prison and the workshop, which is supervised at all times, is staffed by prisoners assessed as low risk,” she said.

“All hard copies and electronic copies of the document at the prison have now been destroyed.

“The screening process for documents to be printed at the prison workshop has been made more secure to ensure this does not happen again. HMCS has alerted all those affected and apologised.”
