QualitySolicitors teams up with financial adviser group

9 September 2010

QualitySolicitors, the umbrella organisation federating about 200 high street firms, has set up a partnership with financial adviser group AWD Chase de Vere.

QualitySolicitors was created in anticipation of the Legal Services Act to provide a recognisable high street lawyer brand.

In the face of likely competition by a well-known retailer such as Tesco or the Co-op, QualitySolicitors offers a lifeline to smaller high street firms through a nationwide brand and shared services.

Member firms pledge to be genuinely client focused, make “real promises about the things that really matter to [clients]”, and commit to “a 5-star service”.

Chief executive Craig Holt said the move would allow firms to offer clients a more rounded service.

“There is a strong compatibility between legal services and financial planning solutions and we need to offer both to provide a better overall service to our clients,” Holt said.

He added: “We have been looking for a quality firm of independent financial advisers to work with, one that shares the same focus on client service as we do, and are delighted to have found that in AWD Chase de Vere.”

The new arrangement provides for a mutual referral mechanism on a preferred supplier basis, leaving partners free to work with other professionals.

A spokesperson for AWD Chase de Vere told Solicitors Journal that the referral will not be automatic but that either partner would only refer a client to the other where they believed it was in this client’s interest.

The mechanism will also be fully transparent, with clients being told about the partnership.
