The STEP Advanced Certificate in Mediation is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), so successful participants are eligible for both STEP Affiliate and CIArb Associate ranking, which comes with the use of the Arbitrators’ designation ACIArb. It is recognised by STEP and the England and Wales Solicitors Regulation Authority as meeting full annual continuing professional development requirements.

The three-month programme comprises pre-course reading, a three-day face-to-face workshop and a written assignment. Enrolment is open for members and non-members until 28 January 2013 and workshops take place in London, Guernsey and Jersey in March 2013.

Co-author of the certificate Peter Pexton TEP, Ganten Group director and a member of STEP’s council, said: “The growing complexity of family structures and the high costs of litigation mean resolving conflict is an important skill for trusts and estates practitioners. Understanding alternative dispute resolution through mediation is fast becoming an essential part of a trusted advisor’s toolkit.”
