Penningtons Solicitors and Manches have today agreed a deal that creates 115-partner-strong firm Penningtons Manches LLP.

All 265 Manches employees, including 46 partners, have moved across to the new business, which has a combined turnover of £58m.

David Raine, chief executive, said the strategic move was in response to the constantly evolving legal market.

"The synergy between Penningtons and Manches was evident early on in our discussions and by joining together we will be able to offer an enhanced level of expertise to all our clients," he said.

Penningtons merged with City practices Dawsons and Wedlake Saint in 2011 and opened offices in Cambridge and Guildford in 2012.

Manches moved to a new office in Reading earlier this year.

The new firm has offices in seven locations.

Raine added: "The legal market is constantly evolving and we do not believe that standing still is an option for any strong, progressive law firm."
