National law firm picks up private client pieces following company closure

Clarke Willmott has snapped up ten employees from Challinors, the Midlands-based law firm that entered administration last week.

The national law firm has taken parts of the private client and commercial litigation teams, who join Clark Willmott's existing teams with immediate effect.

Files will be serviced from the firm's Birmingham office.

Stephen Rosser, chief executive at Clarke Willmott, said: "Growing our Birmingham offering is part of our three-year strategy. Our main priority is to ensure a seamless transition for Challinors' clients and we will be working with the administrators and Challinors' partners in order to achieve this."

The firm also has branches in Bristol, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton. It recently moved its London office to 1 Chancery Lane.

Challinors Solicitors had offices in eight locations around the Midlands. Some 46 staff members were made redundant.

Administrators said there was "limited interest" in buying the business as a whole, according to the BBC (22 August 2013).
